Jakarta, Jan 22 (.) India’s two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu progressed to the quarterfinals of the Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2026 on Thursday with a straight games victory over Denmark’s Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt.
Sindhu defeated Kjaersfeldt with a scoreline of 21-19, 21-18 in 43 minutes.
Sindhu will now face top seed Chinese player Chen Yu Fei on Friday.
Chen Yufei is the gold medalist in the 2020 Summer Olympics, and also the 2025 Asian Championships.
Chen leads the head-to-head tally against Sindhu 7- 6, and the quarters tomorrow promises to be closely fought.
Among other Indians, seventh seed Lakshya Sen also advanced to the Quarterfinals after a dominant 21-10, 21-11 victory over Hong Kong’s Jason Gunawan in another 43 minutes battle.
Lakshya will take on Thailand’s Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul in the Men’s singles Quarterfinals.
In another women’s singles match, Anmol Kharb challenged former world No.1 and Olympic bronze medallist Nozomi Okuhara by winning the first game 21-16 before bowing out.
Men’s singles player Kidambi Srikanth, and men’s doubles pair of Hariharan Amsakarunan and MR Arjun lost their respective matches and exited the tournament.
