Hyderabd, Jan 6 (.)Tata Advanced Systems (TAS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons, on Tuesday announced it has been awarded a supply order by the Indian Army to support the overhaul and upgradation of first-generation Pinaka Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS) and Battery Command Posts (BCPs). The Supply Order was formally handed over by the Indian Army to Tata Advanced Systems during a formal ceremony held in New Delhi.
The project will be executed in collaboration with the Army’s 510 Advance Base Workshop (ABW) under a public–private partnership model, a release said.
The programme will begin with a pilot overhaul jointly undertaken by TAS and 510 ABW, after which the remaining systems will be refurbished by the Army workshop with TAS providing critical spares, quality assurance and technical support.
Developed in partnership with DRDO, the Pinaka MLRS features nearly 80 percent indigenous content and remains a key component of the Army’s artillery capabilities.
