Hyderabad, Dec 29 (.) The Telangana Film Development Corporation (TFDC) on Monday hosted the grand awards ceremony of the Bathukamma Young Filmmakers Challenge (BYFC) 2025 at Ravindra Bharathi, crowning young filmmakers for their creative portrayal of government welfare schemes through short films and songs.
The event was attended as chief guests by Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao. TFDC Chairman Dil Raju, Managing Director Priyanka, and several prominent film personalities were also present.
Addressing the gathering, Komatireddy Reddy described the initiative as a unique experiment under the leadership of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, aimed at empowering youth to creatively showcase how welfare schemes are transforming lives across Telangana.
He said the challenge had emerged as a powerful platform connecting government initiatives with people, particularly highlighting talent from rural and remote areas.
Congratulating the winners, he urged young filmmakers to continue shaping the cultural future of the State through their art.
Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao said Telangana’s rich culture and traditions must be carried forward by the youth, and praised participants for using cinema to reflect grassroots-level change.
He noted that the challenge helped take the spirit of Bathukamma and the identity of Telangana to a wider audience, while uncovering hidden talent from villages.
Cash prizes and certificates were presented to the best films and songs selected from entries received across the State.
Renowned directors Dasaradh and Harish Shankar, actor Tanikella Bharani, cinematographer P G Vinda, producer-actor Ashok Kumar, singers Rahul Sipligunj, Mangli and Mohana Bhogaraju, music director Charan Arjun, and film critic Ainamapudi Srilakshmi were among those who participated in the ceremony.
