Washington, Dec 31 (.) Marvel Studios has released the second teaser for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, this time spotlighting Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. The highly anticipated film is slated for a worldwide release on December 18, 2026.
The new teaser arrives a week after the first ‘Doomsday’ teaser, which featured Chris Evans’ Captain America and debuted during previews of Avatar: Fire and Ash. That initial glimpse confirmed Evans’ return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and revealed that his character now has a child.
In contrast, the Thor-focused teaser centers on a more emotional note. It shows the God of Thunder praying for the safety of his adopted daughter, Love, as he prepares to return to battle. Love was first introduced in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ (2022).
The teaser opens in a peaceful, sunlit forest, where Thor is seen praying to his late father, Odin, asking for strength to protect his daughter. A brief glimpse shows Love, now a little older, resting in bed as Thor gently kisses her forehead.
The sequence suggests Thor is once again gearing up to join the Avengers in their fight against Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. Marvel shared the teaser on its official Instagram handle.
According to Variety, Love, played by Hemsworth’s real-life daughter India Hemsworth, is the child of the villain Gorr the God Butcher, portrayed by Christian Bale. In Love and Thunder, Gorr seeks revenge on the gods after losing his own daughter.
Before his death, he resurrects Love and asks Thor to raise her as his own. Love later joins ‘Thor’ on his adventures and even wields the Stormbreaker.
Hemsworth was previously confirmed to star in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, alongside a massive ensemble cast that includes Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, Tom Hiddleston, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, and Simu Liu.
The film will also unite characters from across the Marvel multiverse, bringing together the Fantastic Four cast, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, as well as members of the Thunderbolts, including Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen, and Lewis Pullman.
Adding to the scale, Doomsday will feature iconic actors from Fox’s X-Men universe, such as Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Kelsey Grammer, Alan Cumming, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, and Rebecca Romijn, making it one of Marvel’s most ambitious crossover events to date.
