Jammu, Jan 5 (.) Days after controversy sparked over the selection of the Under-14 J&K cricket team for the 69th National School Games, the Jammu and Kashmir Directorate of Youth Services and Sports on Monday formed a committee to scrutinise documents and score sheets prepared during competitions held at ‘Inter District UT level’ matches of the Cricket League.
The controversy erupted over the composition of the selected squad, in which, out of the 16 players named in the main list, three players from the Jammu region were selected, while just one Jammu-based player figures among the seven standby cricketers.
As per an order issued by the Director of Youth Services and Sports, Anuradha Gupta, a committee of officials has been constituted to scrutinise all score sheets prepared during competitions held at ‘Inter District UT level’ matches of the Under-14 Cricket League culminating in the selection of the team for participation in the 69th National School Games.
The committee is chaired by Pankaj Sasan, Physical Education Lecturer, District Jammu. Ranji Trophy players Arshad Bhat, Jagtar Singh and Paramjeet Singh, and senior national player Mukesh Sharma are the members.
The committee, as per the order, shall scrutinise all score sheets and other relevant records to verify if the selection was made as per laid down norms.
“The committee shall submit its report by January 5, 2026,” says the order.
Notably, Jammu and Kashmir was also recently hit by the controversy over the selection of players for the Santosh Trophy, following which a committee was constituted and the matter is being probed.
However, the order also read that Joint Directors, Jammu and Kashmir, will personally ensure that all score sheets and records are made available to the committee members immediately. . VBH .
